The 3 clubs in North Berwick offer a joint clubgolf programme which now has over 100 children participating in 10 coaching groups, the biggest set up in East Lothian! The clubs have now completed their 4th season of delivery and are beginning to see some fantastic results with a few players already in single figures and only 13 years old. 28 club members, have trained as PGA Level 1 coaches, 5 have also taken their coaching further and trained as Level 1 Advanced coaches to enable them to deliver Stage 2 coaching. The programme was coordinated by Ric Foulner, Tantallon’s Junior Convenor, a huge thanks to Ric for his dedication to Junior Golf. A fantastic “Girls in Golf” programme is delivered by the Ladies on a Saturday and Sunday—this included a Christmas Clinic with Catriona Matthew. North Berwick’s PGA Pro Martyn Huish has been involved from the outset and his support to has been vital. Martyn is a PGA Tutor so is a fantastic asset to the local area as a coach mentor. This season Martyn, supported by Ric, delivered two Stage 3 groups to 15 children. The clubs also welcomed Fraser Malcolm, another of North Berwick Golf Club’s Pros, to the programme this season.
